Chances are that sometime this month you will be sending a letter or holiday greeting card either across town right here in Springfield, IL, or across the country. In the interest of making this process easier, the Stockbridge Court blog has gathered up some ideas to help you out. While you are at it, you can be celebrating National Letter Writing Day on December 7th and Christmas Card Day on December 9th.
November is here, and along with shorter days and the advent of winter creeping in upon us, we can pause and give thanks because that all-American holiday, Thanksgiving, is coming. To celebrate, we’ve pulled together some bits and pieces about Thanksgiving, including some fun Thanksgiving trivia, about the holiday’s history, plus some resources to learn more in greater depth. And because Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie, we’ve included several pumpkin-based recipes.
It’s October, and that mean’s it’s pumpkin time. Everywhere you turn, there’s pumpkin this, and pumpkin that. It’s like the Great Pumpkin overtook the land — it could be the next, great thriller (but that movie was already, made, it’s called, Pumpkinhead). Just be prepared, grab a pumpkin-spice latte from your favorite Springfield coffee shop, invite some people over from our apartment community, and kick back to watch one of these classic Halloweenesque movies.
Later this month, on the 25th, is National Comic Book Day! How long has it been since you read a comic book? A week? A year? Decades? Maybe even… never? Well, however long it has been, why not take advantage of the upcoming holiday to pick up a great story or two?
There are a number of places that you can pick up comics in the area. One of the closest is the Springfield City Library, not too far from us here at Stockbridge Court Apartments. If you find something you really love there and just have to own, or if you want a wider selection, or if you want some great recommendations from someone who knows comics really well, it might be worth it to head over to HB Collectibles or Bob’s Hobbies & Collectibles.
